Laura DiNardo

Laura DiNardo is a Ph.D. candidate in Columbia’s Department of Italian and the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society. Laura received her B.A. in Linguistics magna cum laude, with distinction in the major, from Yale University, as well as her M.A. in Italian and M. Phil. in Italian and Comparative Literature from Columbia University. Her research focuses on medieval and analytic philosophy of language in relation to the works of Dante, with her dissertation utilizing analytic philosophical methods to fully excavate the poet’s enactment of a language theory in the Commedia.

While at Columbia, she has taught Elementary and Intermediate Italian on campus and abroad, served as the teaching assistant for Professor Teodolinda Barolini’s “Dante’s Divina Commedia” and Professor Pier Mattia Tommasino’s “The Qur’an in Europe,” and currently teaches Literature Humanities as a Core Curriculum Preceptor. Laura has also held a variety of fellowship positions at Columbia’s Center for Teaching and Learning, including that of Lead Teaching Fellow, Senior Lead Teaching Fellow, Teaching Consultant, and now Senior Teaching Consultant for the 2024-2025 academic year. 

Laura serves as Research Assistant to Professor Teodolinda Barolini and as an Assistant Editor of Digital Dante. She is a member of the Dante Society of America, the Medieval Academy of America, and the Modern Language Association.
