Below you will find audio recordings of the Italian text of Dante’s Commedia, read by Francesco Bausi, a professor at the Università della Calabria and a native Florentine. Professor Bausi’s style of reading is direct and not overly affected, a lettura piana (plain reading) that provides a welcome alternative to highly dramatic versions like that of the actor Roberto Benigni.

We begin with the Inferno and will continue to add more until the culmination of the project.
